Welcome to FilmJC!
If you are planning a shoot with a Major or Intermediate Permit - anything requiring parking, ITC or street closure, cranes, dolly track; any medium to large footprint production shooting in a public park or public space: we require a preproduction meeting at least 2 weeks in advance of your first set up day or shoot date. All information and permit requirements are in the FAQ. Please contact us directly with questions. Set up days are counted as shoot days unless your footprint is significantly different. All film permits must have the written approval of the Traffic Division and from the council person(s) of the location where you would like to shoot, unless private property. Traffic has jurisdiction over all parking requests in public rights of way.
**PLEASE NOTE: CURRENT FILM HOTSPOTS ARE HAMILTON PARK AND VAN VORST PARK AREAS. Check the map below and please contact us if you want to shoot in the areas in these neighborhoods. It is not guaranteed.
We invite you to take a virtual tour of some of Jersey City’s locations, from the Hudson River waterfront to the Hackensack marshes. Jersey City is home to Victorian parks, urban streets, brownstones, storefronts, basketball courts, tennis courts, high rises, commercial cityscapes, industrial areas and rich historical sites. We are one of the most diverse cities in the US.
Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions regarding locations. Contact Us For More Info
Any large footprint exterior shoot, requiring production vehicles parked on city streets, ITC or street closure must attend the monthly Engineering meeting, held in person the last Thursday of the month, except on holidays. At this meeting you will present your shoot plan or wishlist to the Public Safety, Parking and Traffic Departments for their pre-approval of your project. A separate preproduction meeting will be held with FilmJC to present to City Council.
Other productions may be required to attend a pre-production meeting with FilmJC at our discretion.
